Question 1

What happens to PNG transparency when converting to JPG?

Accepted Answer

JPG does not support transparency. Any transparent pixels in your PNG will be replaced with the background color you select. White is the most common choice for documents; you can pick any solid color.

Question 2

Why convert PNG to JPG?

Accepted Answer

JPG produces much smaller file sizes for photographs. If your PNG is a photo or complex image without transparency, converting to JPG can significantly reduce load times on the web without a noticeable quality difference.
